Our Story
As an island of 47,000 residents, recent history has shown Grand Bahama enduring several tragically destructive hurricanes as well as economic depression for years. This reality was compounded in September 2019, with the record-breaking and destructive passage of Hurricane Dorian that not only took hundreds of lives but also battered homes and businesses. One of these economic casualties was the loss of the island’s only remaining major family entertainment provider––its movie theater.
Since then, residents wishing to enjoy a night out at the movies have no local option and must travel off-island to do so. The average person, let alone family, cannot afford to do this.
The Solution
Cayplex Entertainment Group Inc. will introduce “Cayplex Entertainment” in a phased approach. Phase 1 will consist of a modern movie theater that promises the return of a blend of nostalgia and luxury. With two large Digital & 4K-compatible screens, up to 150 seats including a premium VIP section, we’re not just showing films – we’re crafting memories.
Phase 2 will include a 20,000 square-foot multi-screen movie theater with ~800 seating capacity, a boutique restaurant and a boutique bowling alley with up-to six (6) computerized bowling lanes.
The construction and operation of the business will represent the resilient and enduring Grand Bahamian spirit, which is one that rises above the height of the flood waters caused by Dorian, by being built at an elevation of 10 ft. height off the ground, and utilizing Miami-Dade rated building codes and furnishings that will keep the compound resilient against the possibility of future storms. This compact-size but towering figure will not only bring together families to enjoy entertainment once again, but also the community by representing and signaling hope for the average Grand Bahamian’s ability to move forward, rebuild and have hope again, despite all the tragedy and loss we have endured.
The Cayplex Movie Theater will provide the residents of Grand Bahama with a movie theatre with first-class amenities and access to the latest film releases. The films shown will be new releases of the most popular movies in three target markets: families, young adults and children. The building that will house the facility will be constructed on a plot of vacant land. The Cayplex Bowling Alley will provide wholesome, enjoyable entertainment in a sport that the whole family can enjoy. Service & products include six (6) computerized bowling lanes, accompanied by a full-service concession bar shared by the movie theater. The casual ambiance, quality of the food, and excellent service will ensure a large, loyal following of customers.

A passionate moviegoer, TV & film critic, the founder, Mr. Brinard Sweeting, has the passion, intrinsic skills, expertise and business acumen to make this business succeed. Brinard is a Certified Website Design Specialist, and a lauded, accoladed, award-winning Digital Marketing Specialist, that successfully owns and operates his own six-figure a year website design & digital marketing agency, Visionary Pro Digital, for the last six (6) years based in Grand Bahama.
Overseeing a small team and delivering major projects for clients ranging from The Government of The Bahamas, The Grand Bahama Port Authority, The Grand Bahama Power Company, The Grand Bahama Utility Company to other large corporations and SMEs on a consistent basis. He has established important relationships with key people in various industries. He serves as the President of Cayplex Entertainment Group Inc.
